About pride of Iran

My name is Zahra Shaafizadeh. I am Iranian and founder of the travel consultancy “Pride of Iran”.

Hiking in the mountains is one of my favourite activities. Also, close to my heart is the history of Iran. In September 2020, I successfully obtained a master degree in Iranology. The ancient mythology and its links to today’s society were the subject of my thesis. For more about my thesis, click here. History and outdoors are an excellent combination for exploring Iran.

For years, I worked in a traditional travel agency selling flights and hotel accommodation. Since 2012, I’m also licensed by the Iranian Ministry of Handicraft, Tourism & Heritage as an official tour guide.

I married to a Dutchman and lived several years outside Iran. Therefore, I am very familiar with how foreigners like to pass their holidays. My advanced level of the English language will ensure good understanding of your needs and wishes.

With the creation of Pride of Iran, I hope I can use my travel experience and share with you the beautiful nature of my country and its unique cultural heritage! The majority of my travel proposals is outside the main cities. Accommodation is often in traditional ecolodges. Not only, this will give you a unique experience of rural life, but also this will provide welcome economic activities for local communities.

In case you head out into the high mountains (for example Damavand) you will be accompanied by mountain guides that are licensed by the Iranian mountaineering federation.

I hope this website is of help to discover some of Iran’s historical sites, natural beauties as well as the unique Iranian culture.
